Policy Overview
Oshio College of Acupuncture and Herbology is committed to providing a safe, respectful, inclusive, and supportive learning environment for all students.
We believe that every student has the right to be treated with dignity, fairness, and respect throughout their academic journey.
This policy outlines the expectations, rights, and procedures in place to ensure that all members of the Oshio College of Acupuncture and Herbology community uphold these principles.
Principles
- Respect: Students are entitled to a learning environment free from harassment, discrimination, bullying, intimidation, and unfair treatment.
- Fairness: Academic and administrative decisions affecting students must be made impartially, based on clear, consistent, and transparent standards.
- Safety: Oshio College of Acupuncture and Herbology is committed to maintaining a safe and supportive space where students can focus on learning without fear of harm or mistreatment.
- Support: Students are encouraged to seek assistance if they experience or witness disrespectful or unfair treatment.
Expectations
All students, faculty, staff, and administrators are expected to:
- Treat each other with courtesy, respect, and professionalism.
- Foster an inclusive environment that values diversity and different perspectives.
- Engage in constructive communication and resolve conflicts through appropriate channels.
- Uphold ethical conduct in all academic and extracurricular activities.
Procedures for Addressing Concerns
- Informal Resolution:
Students who feel they have been treated unfairly or disrespectfully are encouraged to first attempt to resolve the issue directly and informally with the individual(s) involved, if they feel safe doing so. - Formal Complaint:
If informal resolution is not possible or appropriate, students may submit a written complaint to the Vice-President of Student Services or designated administrative officer.
Complaints must include:- A clear description of the concern
- The names of the individuals involved (if known)
- Relevant dates and facts
- Any supporting documentation
- Investigation:
Upon receipt of a complaint, Oshio College of Acupuncture and Herbology will conduct a timely, impartial, and confidential investigation.
Both the complainant and the respondent will be given the opportunity to provide information and respond to the concerns. - Outcome and Remedies:
If the complaint is substantiated, appropriate actions will be taken, which may include but are not limited to:- Mediation
- Academic adjustments
- Disciplinary measures against faculty, staff, or students (if warranted)
- Protection Against Retaliation:
Students who file a complaint in good faith will be protected from retaliation.
Retaliation against a student who raises a concern or participates in an investigation will not be tolerated.

Review and Monitoring
This policy will be reviewed annually to ensure its effectiveness and compliance with the Private Training Institutions Branch (PTIB), Education Quality Assurance (EQA) standards, and any applicable legislation.
