Admission Requirements

Language Proficiency Requirements for Admission

Oshio College of Acupuncture & Herbology offers diploma and certificate programs in two language streams:
• English-language stream
• Chinese-language stream

To ensure students are prepared for their studies, applicants must meet language proficiency requirements based on the stream they choose.

🔹 English-Language Stream

Applicants to English-language programs must demonstrate sufficient English proficiency. This can be satisfied through:
• Prior education completed in English (e.g., secondary or post-secondary studies), or
• Acceptable results from recognized English language tests such as IELTS(5.5), TOEFL(71), or Duolingo(95).

Applicants who do not meet this requirement may be conditionally admitted and asked to complete English upgrading courses before starting their program.

🔹 Chinese-Language Stream

Applicants to Chinese-language programs must demonstrate adequate Chinese language proficiency, either through:
• Prior education completed in Chinese, or
• A Chinese language proficiency test result (e.g., HSK), if requested.

English proficiency is not required for admission to the Chinese stream. However, students who plan to apply for professional licensing in British Columbia must still meet the English proficiency standards set by the College of Complementary Health Professionals of BC (CCHPBC).

📌 General Admission Requirements (All Applicants)

All applicants must:
• Be at least 19 years of age, and
• Have completed high school or an equivalent level of education.

⚠️ Important Note on Professional Licensing

Applicants intending to pursue professional registration in British Columbia should be aware that the CCHPBC requires:
• At least two years of post-secondary education from a recognized institution, and
• Demonstrated English language proficiency, regardless of the language of instruction at Oshio College.

Please plan your academic path accordingly. For guidance, contact: admin@oshio.ca

Important Note:

While English proficiency is not required for admission, students planning to apply for professional licensing in British Columbia must meet the academic requirements set by the College of Complementary Health Professionals of British Columbia (CCHPBC).

Specifically, applicants must have completed at least two years of recognized post-secondary education at an accredited institution prior to applying for licensing registration.

If you intend to seek licensure after graduation, please plan your academic pathway accordingly.
