1. Our Commitment
Oshio College of Acupuncture & Herbology is committed to fostering a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment for all students, faculty, staff, and visitors. 2. Policy Scope
This policy applies to all members of the Oshio College community, including:
Students (domestic and international)
Faculty and administrative staff
Clinical supervisors and teaching assistants
Visitors and third-party contractors on campus
Online learning and communication spaces
3. Definitions
Harassment
Unwelcome or offensive behaviour—verbal, written, visual, or physical—that demeans, intimidates, or humiliates another person. This includes but is not limited to:
Sexual harassment (e.g. unwanted advances, suggestive comments)
Bullying or intimidation
Persistent jokes, name-calling, or stereotypes
Online or cyber harassment
Discrimination
Unequal or unfair treatment based on characteristics protected under the BC Human Rights Code, such as:
Race, ethnicity, or skin colour
National or ancestral origin
Gender, gender identity, or sexual orientation
Age, religion, or disability
Family or marital status
Racism
Any act, intentional or unintentional, that reinforces racial hierarchies, stereotypes, or exclusion, including:
Racial slurs or comments
Dismissing someone’s ideas based on race or accent
Microaggressions or cultural insensitivity
Structural or systemic barriers to participation
4. Reporting and Resolution
We encourage anyone who experiences or witnesses harassment, racism, or discrimination to report it promptly. Reports may be made by email or in person to:

The College will acknowledge all reports within 5 business days, and initiate a confidential review. The person affected may choose whether to pursue informal resolution (e.g., facilitated conversation) or a formal investigation.
All complaints will be handled with discretion, and retaliation of any kind is strictly prohibited.
5. Outcomes and Accountability
Depending on the nature and findings of the report, outcomes may include:
A formal warning or apology
Mediation between parties
Disciplinary action, including suspension or dismissal (for students), or termination (for staff or faculty)
Referral to external authorities if necessary
6. Education and Prevention
Oshio College is committed to ongoing education and awareness. We provide resources and support to help all members of our community understand cultural sensitivity, trauma-informed practice, and respectful communication—especially within the context of Traditional Chinese Medicine and multicultural healing environments.
7. Language of Access
We welcome reports and inquiries in English or Chinese. Translation support is available to ensure accessibility and understanding for all students and staff.
