Education Background

Dr. Ning Zhang completed the Doctor of TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) Program (five-year curriculum) at Oshio College of Acupuncture and Herbology in Victoria, British Columbia.

She is also a direct disciple of Dr. Zhang Han (the 16th generation descendant of the Zhang family of imperial physicians and the son of the famous national medical master Zhang Rongjiang, a direct disciple of the national medical master Li Diangui and Shi Xuemin).

Prior to her TCM education, Dr. Zhang earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Food Science and Engineering and subsequently completed her Ph.D. in Information Science, specializing in Organizational Semiotics and Communication.

She also holds a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification awarded by the Project Management Institute (PMI), USA.

She is a licensed Registered Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioner (R.TCM.P) in British Columbia, Canada.

Professional Experience

Since 2017, Dr. Zhang has been teaching at Oshio College of Acupuncture and Herbology, where she instructs a range of courses including:

  • Qigong and Tai Chi

In addition to her academic responsibilities, Dr. Zhang collaborates with local TCM clinics and herbal pharmacies to promote community health across Vancouver Island.

Martial Arts and Qigong Background

Dr. Zhang is a sixth-generation direct inheritor of Yang-style Tai Chi and a fourth-generation direct inheritor of the Dabeiquan lineage. She was also awarded with the title “Wudang Culture Inheritor” after she completed her training in a series of Wudang Daoism Health Cultivation programs with high performance.

Since 2006, she has studied under Master Jia Shumin, a disciple of Grandmaster Yang Zhenduo and a third-generation successor of Dabeiquan.

Dr. Zhang has taught Yang-style Tai Chi, Health Qigong, and wellness practices in China, the United Kingdom, and Victoria, Canada, contributing significantly to the spread of traditional Chinese martial arts and holistic health practices internationally.
