Dr. Liye Zhao

Education Background

Dr. Liye Zhao completed extensive academic training in both traditional Chinese medicine and modern Western medicine over the course of eleven years. He graduated from Beijing Traditional Medicine and Pharmacy University and pursued advanced research fellowships at leading medical institutions in China.

Professional Experience

Dr. Zhao brings over four decades of clinical, teaching, and research experience across China and Canada.

He served as a physician, instructor, and research fellow at renowned institutions including Beijing Friendship Hospital, Beijing Medical University, and the Hospital of the Ministry of Space Industry.

In 1998, Dr. Zhao moved to Canada, where he founded the China Traditional Chinese Medicine Center and continued his contributions to the field as a leader in professional organizations. His roles have included:

  • Chief Examiner of the Examination Committee of the College of Alberta Acupuncture and Association (2002–2012)
  • Director of the College and Association of Acupuncturists of Alberta (2009–present)
  • Director of the Alberta Association of Traditional Chinese Medical Doctors (2003–2005)
  • Vice President of the Acupuncture Society of Alberta (2001–2004)

Dr. Zhao holds acupuncture licenses in both British Columbia and Alberta.
